Wolf In The City or Mythology?
By Miss Paradise BJ, journalism student, unpaid investigator, caffeine-dependent disaster magnet
Paradise City continues its ambitious project of becoming the first city legally classified as “a terrible idea.”A man wearing a wolf mask, burgundy bomber jacket, jeans, and no shoes stole a police cruiser downtown.
Witnesses described him as:
“Calm”
“Focused,”
and “definitely not wearing socks.”
Which unfortunately narrows it down to roughly half the male population of Paradise City after midnight.
Several other “witnesses” swear the suspect had:
“The face of Tounga,”
“The body of Black,”
and “wolf eyes.”
Police still have no idea what that means. One officer admitted:
“At this point we’re investigating mythology.”
Security cameras show the stolen cruiser speeding through East with terrifying precision, drifting around corners like the driver had either professional racing experience or absolutely nothing left to lose. Residents watched in horror as the police car tore through intersections, sidewalks, and at one point what appears to have been an outdoor wedding reception.
One elderly witness said:
“He drove like the devil himself.”
The chase finally ended at the East Motel, where the stolen cruiser launched through a fence and sank nose-first into the motel swimming pool. So perhaps “devil himself” is still learning parking. Police divers later recovered the vehicle and discovered two important things: The suspect had escaped, and the shotgun from the cruiser was missing.
Which is exactly the kind of detail that makes city officials develop stress-related eye twitching. So somewhere in Paradise City tonight, a barefoot wolf man with a stolen police shotgun is wandering through underground casinos while half the city burns and the other half tries to order spicy noodles on delivery apps. The Police Captain held a press conference shortly afterward and advised residents to:
“Throw away bottles and drinks outside your homes to create crushed glass in the streets.”
When reporters asked if the city was officially recommending improvised medieval traps against a barefoot maniac with a stolen shotgun, the Captain replied:
“We’re exploring community-based solutions.”
Translation: “We are wildly under prepared.”
Rumors immediately exploded across the city. Some believe the masked driver escaped from the old psychiatric asylum South of Paradise. Others think he’s connected to the recent bar fire. A local conspiracy podcast claims he’s “a symbolic spirit of urban collapse,” though listeners pointed out the host says that every week.
Meanwhile: The bank alarm downtown has been malfunctioning nonstop for six days. Emergency services are overwhelmed. The fire department is still recovering from the Dirty Shame disaster. And someone keeps reporting wolves near the highway despite there being no wolves within 300 miles of Paradise City. The mayor reassured citizens during a televised statement:
“Everything is under control.”
Unfortunately, she gave the speech while standing in front of a smoking electrical fire at City Hall.
One question remains, what’s that lust that everybody speak?
